Our partners at the MARYLAND DEPT OF THE ENVIRONMENT have produced a Power Point presentation on the decision making process associated with pump offs. In addition, they have provided us with a Power Point presentation on the set up of their pump off system.

Baltimore County Fire Department Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) Training Page Several members of the HAZMAT Team attended the 2007 International Association of Fire Chiefs 2007 HAZMAT Conference. Because this is held in our back yard (Hunt Valley), it is a great opportunity to train and network with other HAZMAT professionals. This year was held in honor of Chief John Eversole who retired from the Chicago Fire Department. He is considered one of the forefathers of HAZMAT Response. He will be missed. Hazardous Materials Technician Training Station 14 4/23/07 Volunteer and Career members of the Baltimore County Fire Department engaged in a joint Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute and BCoFD Hazardous Materials Technician class. Curriculum included Hazardous Materials Laws and Standards, Safety, Incident Management System, Chemistry and Hazardous Materials Behavior, Research and Identification, Decontamination, and Hazardous Site Management. During Day 3, the class donned their EPA Level A Suits for the first time. They incorporated some of the concepts of air and liquid sampling while in their Level A suits. After some acclimation to suit use, they then engaged in some dexterity drills (Frisbee and football catch). [photogallery/photo00001423/real.htm]During Day 4, the students worked on a chlorine rail car simulator and applied HAZMAT 114's A, B, and C Chlorine Kits. The simulator was donated for use by MDE. An MC 307 (gasoline tanker) was also dropped off by Baltimore Tank Lines for training purposes. [photogallery/photo00032239/real.htm]"A" Shift from Station 14 set-up a technical decontamination corridor for the students. In addition, Captain Ray Kinsey performed an exercise showing wet and dry decontamination. One versus the other is decided on based upon appropriate research and risk assessment. Students engaged in additional dexterity training using a leak tree while wearing an encapsulated level B suit.
