B Shift Responds to Apartment Fire

6-20-08

B Shift was alerted for a local box to investigate a fire reported out. Upon arrival, they were confronted with fire on the third floor.  A fire box was requested and the crew from E14 did an outstanding job of establishing attack lines and evacuating the apartment complex prior to attacking the fire.  Crews from Pikesville Station 2, The Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company, Garrison Station 19, and Towson Station 1 worked with the crews from the Brookandville Fire Station to quickly put the fire under control.

B Shift Responds to Back-to-Back HAZMAT Calls...

Day shift on 2/18/08 was busy for the HAZMAT Team.  D shift was called at 0600 for an overturned truck that was carrying approximately 3000 gallons of AMMONIUM NITRATE SLURRY as well as a 50 gallon tank of ACETIC ACID.  B Shift relieved them and spent several hours assisting with the neutralization of the leaking acid as well as the offload of hydraulic fluid during the up righting process.  After leaving seven hours later, B Shift responded to a MERCURY spill at a local auto dealership in Lutherville.  Using their JEROME Mercury Meter, station 14 personnel assisted in the location and clean-up of the liquid metal.
